Optimum Reactive Power Dispatch Solution using Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization and Pathfinder Algorithm

Optimum reactive power dispatch (ORPD) significantly impacts the operation and control of electrical systems (EPS) due to its undeniable benefit in economic reliability systems. ORPD is a sub-problem optimal flow (OPF). The main aim reduce/minimize real loss. Among swarm intelligence (SI) metaheuristic algorithms particle optimization (PSO), which has fast convergence speed gives optimum solution particular problem by moving intensification (exploitation) search space. Also, pathfinder algorithm (PFA) mimics collective movement swarms with leading member. Therefore, combining PSO PFA form hybrid technique considered viable approach this study avoid decreasing searchability when dimension increases. In article, based on (HPSO-PFA) proposed for first time combination variables (generator voltage, transformer tap, sizing compensation obtain objective function (total loss). method tested IEEE 30 118 bus losses were reduced 16.14262 MW 107.2913 test Furthermore, percentage (%) reduction are 9.8% 19.25%, respectively. result demonstrates performance HPSO-PFA better than other algorithms.
